My First Crush . . . Ah, Puppy Love (Sigh)

I had a lot of favorite television shows in the late 70s and early 80s. All In the Family, Good Times, The Jeffersons, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Nanny and the Professor, The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman . . . the list goes on and on.
But all of those shows could never compare to my absolute favorite, Starsky and Hutch! That was my show with a capital S, because I had a major crush on both David Starsky and Ken Hutchinson. I'm talking major, people! I was engaged to them both and they had no idea. They were both going to wait for me to get a little older, then marry me. They were going to pick me up in Zebra-3 and we'd ride off into the sunset.
Yes, people, in my young little mind, I was already a teenage bigamist!

Now that I am much older with a capital M, I still love the show and watch the reruns wherever I can catch them, and I plan to own the complete series before the year is over. (Thank goodness for Amazon.) And though the love affair with these sixty something year-old guys has ended (I'm married to my own handsome blond-haired, blue-eyed Hutch) they will forever have a place in my heart as the most awesome cop duo and my first crushes.

So, what were your favorite 70s and 80s shows, and who was, or were your heart-breaking hunks? Leave a comment and I'll send you an ecopy of the revised edition of my contemporary romance Against the Odds with the gorgeous new cover!

That's just funny! I used to love this show, too - but I don't think I had a crush on them. lol I remember having a crush on Donny Osmond, but it wasn't a huge crush. However, the tv star I remember dreaming over for months, even years, is Peter Barton. Remember him? He was in a tv series "Shirley". But I know he was in other movies, as well. I used to cut out his picture in magazines and pin them to my wall... Yeah, what a heart-throb. In the 80's I dreamed about Rob Lowe.

Ahhh...the good ole days. lol

Hilarious!
Mine was the vampire on a show called "Cliffhangers." Wow did I have it bad. I can't believe I'm not writing vamp stories now.

OH, my favorite "want to marry" start was David McCallum from the "Man from U.N.C.L.E.". I also cut out every article I could find about him and I couldn't believe it when he moved into my Grandmother's apartment building in Santa Monica, CA, ACROSS THE HALL from her!!!!!! I even got brave enough one day to knock on his door with my twin sister, Valerie, and ask for his autograph. He was very kind to us and signed for us, even though he was on the phone with someone long distance. We thanked him profusely and then fled back over to our Grandma's. Let my heart be still!

Oooh, Oooh... Have to jump on the bandwagon for Man From U.N.C.L.E., David McCallum and even older, The Wild, Wild West,Robert Conrad. But the one who really made me dream, and want to write his love story was Stringfellow Hawke (aka. Jan-Micheal Vincent) from Airwolf. And when they added Jean Bruce Scott as a foil for him... I couldn't wait for the sparks. I still have the T.V. Guide picture of the two of them. Is that 'having it bad' or what.
Fun post, Jewel. Thanks.

I all ready have your wonderful book "Against the Odds". I loved it!
My crush was "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Fonz". I even think John Boy was cute becuase he was so down to earth and lived on that beautiful mountain. And wonder of wonders...he was a writer!!

Forgot about Remington Steele...hmm. Have to say, had the wedding planned with "Mickey" from the pop singing group, The Monkees. Apparently, I've had a thing for smart-asses from a very early age! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I had a crush on the earlier incarnation of David Soul as Joshua Bolt on Here Come the Brides, but Bobby Sherman was the one on that show I drooled over every week.

This was so funny. I had a huge crush on Donny Osmond and then on Remington Steele. And Peter was my favorite Brady.
